Steve offered lots of advice on how to choose the most appropriate mount and frame for a piece of embroidery. I know it was a 'tricky' piece to frame and he spent a lot of time getting it absolutely perfect. It was a present for my daughter in law who was over the moon with it. Highly recommended.

Steve did an amazing double mounted frame of a Glastonbury print for us and the workmanship was first class. Can't recommend him highly enough.
I then bought a frame from the Internet for another print and the print was slightly creased but Steve happily glued the print and made it look like a bespoke frame which I am equally delighted with.

I have just received a bespoke frame from Steve today and I am REALLY pleased with result. The frame was commissioned to house a print that did not yet exist, and was required at short notice. Steve was very responsive to emails, and really helpful in helping me pick out quality materials from samples at his workshop. He had no trouble imagining the print to be housed, and gave me some good tips on presentation. I am genuinely excited by the prospecting of gifting such an elegant present to my friend, and would both recommend and use Steve again.

We had two jobs for Steve to do - an overhaul repair of a large frame dating from 1913, and a new framing. We are very pleased with both. The overhaul restored the family heirloom into a condition sound enough for generations to come, and the new framing turns out to be just right for where it hangs, thanks to Steve's guidance in the selection. The precision and care with which he works is outstanding. Also, he is very pleasant to deal with, and his prices are lower than we expected. Happy to recommend him to all our friends!

We took two pictures to be framed - the first being a rather wrinkled gift from Myanmar (Burma) painted onto white cotton sheeting material. Steve has stretched it and carefully affixed it onto a firm backing. The mount complements it perfectly and the whole picture has been expertly framed. The second picture was a pastel which had been rolled-up in a cardboard tube for six months. Steve has double mounted and skilfully framed the picture - no mean feat, as the pastels had not been sealed or sprayed. Steve was extremely helpful, gave good advice, is inexpensive and the result is exactly what we wanted. We have used other framers in York but Steve's quality, professional finish is unbeatable. We would recommend his exceptionally good framing services to everyone.

I have just had a second embroidery picture framed and Steve used a double mount so that the stitches are not squashed; it is a super job, with one mount being coloured to match the picture it really enhances my embroidery. This was also done to match a previous piece of work that Steve framed for me three years ago and as he had all the details on file it matches perfectly. His care with the fabric and attention to detail is superb.

I was lucky enough to get one of the Tower of London poppies and took it to Steve along with an old photo of my great uncle who was killed at the Somme. I had no clear idea of how I wanted them displayed but Steve was extremely helpful and guided me through the choices. Today I collected the finished piece and I am over the moon with it. The poppy and photograph are displayed beautifully, and they combine together to make a poignant piece of art. I can't thank Steve enough, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to everyone. I certainly won't be going anywhere else in future!

We chose Steve because we'd seen some work he'd done for a friend. We had a print that needed framing and he gave some much appreciated advice on the frame and also the colour of the mounting board - he has a very good eye for colours. The picture was ready ahead of time and was a really great piece of framing. The choice of glass which he recommended made a big difference as well. Steve has re framed around 25 items for me over the past 2 years. He is an extremely experienced and exacting craftsman with a good eye for how to make the most of each piece and offers good advice.
He has framed a variety of different pieces for me, from tiny antique etchings to very large contemporary acrylic works, even managing to rescue some articles that were glued down or damaged. I asked him to frame a couple of 250 year old samplers that had been handed down in my family, and were so fragile I was afraid they would fall apart, but Steve is very experienced and carefully stitched. them on to a mount before framing them.
I wouldn't use anyone else.

Steve has framed three paintings for me, all very different from one another, and I am delighted at the result and the very reasonable cost. He offers expert advice on the frame style and colour to pick out tones in the painting, what glass to use if it needed and does not push the most expensive items. The last one he did for me was very special, my grandmother had carried it around Europe in WW2 as a refugee. Just wanted to thank you Steve once again for the lovely work done to frame up the two groups of medals for us.
I know it was a complex job but the skill, effort and time spent is demonstrated to full effect in the results. After trying several picture framers we were lucky enough to find Steve. He has a very wide selection of high quality frames, but most importantly his standard of craftsmanship and materials is very high. Found Steve after doing a local search on the Internet. We wanted to have an album framed for our sons 18th birthday that had been signed by the artist. After a conversation with Steve I knew he was the person I wanted to do this. Fantastic framing by Steve. Brought a couple of illustrations along with papyrus I picked up in Egypt and Steve offered great advice and the framing was impeccable. Could not fault and will happily use again.

Steve was recommended to us as the best person to speak to about re-framing an oil painting that had been seriously damaged in transit from France. What great advice!! Steve took a personal interest in restoring the complete picture. He came to our home to pick up the severely damaged package, painstakingly removed all the crushed glass from the picture, suggested a local artist, Karen Winship, to repair the damaged paint work, advised on a replacement frame and quality of glass to use, and organised the whole process. The outcome was magnificent. We are so grateful for the personal attention Steve gave to restoring this treasured painting. We would certainly recommend him to anyone seeking a helpful, friendly and knowledgeable approach to displaying art.

Steve framed three special prints for me. His advice was really helpful in choosing the right frames and glass and the final result is excellent. The prints look perfect on the wall and are giving a lot of pleasure. I'd recommend Steve for any framing you need doing and will be using him again.

I recently took 7 cross stitch pictures of Henry 8th and his six wives to be reframed. I decided on a lighter wood and Steve suggested a double mount to enhance the colours, which worked really well. He took a lot of trouble to restretch the material so that old wrinkles disappeared. The finished result was excellent.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Beautifully framed one of my favourite artists pieces. An array of frames to choose from and Steve helped me contrast between the artwork and frame. Non reflective glass was also a great finishing touch enhancing the quality. Soft pads on the back to stop markings on the wall and hooks were also included. Will definitely use again and highly recommend Steve’s professional and friendly manner.

Steve recently framed several of my paintings and as always they were expertly done. Nothing is too much trouble for Steve and he is very patient when I dither and change my mind. He always has suggestions to help me make my choices. I would not use any other framer.

We discussed exactly how I wanted my print framed, colour of the wood, the mount and the positioning. You advised on the best Glass to use. I was very precise about the look and even required information transferred to the reverse. When I collected the framed picture I was delighted with the result. It looks absolutely stunning and I couldn't be more pleased. The job was completed in a shorter time than expected which was a bonus.
If there was a star rating I would be giving five stars. Thank you, I will recommend your work to my friends and will be more than happy to ask you to frame further items when needed.

Had original pictures passed down to us that were already framed/glazed. Due to the position on the wall, we wanted a more non reflective glass. Having discussed options with other framing/glazing suppliers, it was clear from initial telephone conversation with Steve that he knew his job. His prices were far cheaper as well. Got Steve to re-glazed in top of the range Artglass AR70. We were not disappointed. Excellent finished product. Steve is down to earth and eager to please. Would highly recommend.

I cannot thank Steve enough for framing a cross stitch picture at very short notice ready for my daughter's birthday.
The colours for the mount and frame that Steve avised were perfect. The framing was so well done and complete with hanging fittings!
If I need anything framing again I would ask Steve to do it...no hesitation.

What a difference!
Steve has just framed an oil painting and a photo for me and I am delighted with the results. I have had the painting since 1984 and the old frame was disintegrating. It is not valuable but is very precious to me so I was wary of entrusting it to anyone but Steve put me at ease on my first visit and spent the time to understand what I wanted. His range of frames is amazing and he soon came up with the perfect one to set off the seascape.
He also framed a large photograph which is utterly transformed. I was stunned at the difference the colour and size of the mount can make. We tried several of the sample frames before finding one which picked up a shade from the photo. This kind of attention to detail is priceless.
I was anxious to see the finished pictures but I needn't have worried: they are now ready to hang and Steve even gave me the hangers to finish the job! He provides an excellent service and I am happy to recommend him if you have a picture which needs framing.

You have found the framer your looking for. Steve`s work is excellent. He has a good range of mouldings & mounts. he`s done over 12 prints for me, including some i needed reframing. And I WILL be going back to have some more prints framed. Steve IS very good.

Steve framed a collection of photographs my mum had assembled last year for my grandad's wake, they had stayed on the same plastic board ever since! As a result some of the very old photographs had curled up quite drastically! I took the board round to steve in hope of having them framed as a christmas present. It was a big job and we had just about a week until christmas and he still assured me it would be done before then! We discussed how I would like it and the consultation was brilliant!!!! I received the frame 3 days before christmas and it was beautiful, each picture had been individually stuck down and mounted before going onto the background. It looked so smart and yet still so personal. My mum cried upon receiving it and is delighted. Thank you Steve! I would highly recommend Steve, it was a good price and the friendly and understanding customer service is something I believe you wouldn't get in town, and invaluable!
